Is Westbrook Out For Good?
Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook got his second concussion of the season yesterday, and the word is that he is likely out for the rest of the season and could be done as a pro, according to NFL.com.
Coach Any Reid called it a “heck of a hit.” Reid wouldn’t make any predictions on whether this was career-threatening to Westbrook “In these types of situations, football is secondary. We’ve got to look [out for] this kid and for his future and make sure everything’s OK for him before he gets back out there,” he said, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
The Eagles may look into signing free agents Edgerrin James, Larry Johnson, and Warrick Dunn.
Eagles vs. Bucs Game Preview

The Eagles look to improve their record to 11-0 under Andy Reid following the bye week, as they face a Tampa Bay team still looking for its first win. A healthy Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook are expected to be back in the lineup on offense, while the defense welcomes back a familiar face in veteran linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.
Coming off a relaxing bye week in which the team got healthy, the Eagles resume their course towards the playoffs against a Buccaneers team that appears it may be on a sinking ship. The Eagles expect to have both Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook back when they hit Lincoln Financial Field hoping to get to 3-1. The Eagles have started the season with three blowout games, coming out on the plus side of two of those, and indications are that they may be in for another romp against the Bucs. But this is NFL, where every team has the talent to win every week, so the Eagles are expected to be focused and ready to go coming out of their off-week. Remember that head coach Andy Reid is 10-0 after the bye week with the Eagles.
McNabb Back On The Field At Practice
McNabb was back at practice this week, showing that he’s recovering nicely from his injury.. Watching the interviews with reporters, he seemed a bit cranky, but that’s to be expected I guess.. I’m sure he was worried that during his leave, Philly would fall in love with another QB and toss him like yesterday’s leftovers.
In any event, it’s a good sign for this Sunday’s game. Go Eagles!
Trotter Joins The Eagles!
Jeremiah Trotter is officially a Philadelphia Eagle. Jeff Garcia was released to make room for Trotter. Nothing surprising here, except for Andy Reid breaking his self-proclaimed vision of not signing players over the age of 30. Trotter’s role isn’t clear at this time, but it looks like he will be a running stuffing specialist.
Michael Vick Makes The Move To Philadelphia!

Words can’t express my thoughts when I heard that former Falcons QB Michael Vick had signed on with the Eagles. Former Colts coach Tony Dungy had alluded to the fact that an annoucement regarding Vick would be made this week, but I don’t think ANYONE saw him making the move to Philadelphia?!
Within minutes, hateful comments about Vick started showing up on my Facebook wall. I bit my tongue, as these bandwagon idiots will be singing Vick’s praises if he ends up taking the Iggles to the big game.
Personally, I think it’s a shrewed move on Andy Reid’s part, and I hope it works out for the Eagles. McNabb has been public in his push to bring Vick to the Eagles, and he’s gotten his wish.

Eagles Trade QB Donovan McNabb
The Philadelphia Eagles announced they have traded QB Donovan McNabb to Washington Redskins for a 2nd round draft choice (37th overall) in 2010 and either a 3rd or 4th round draft pick in 2011.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid was available to the media tonight at the NovaCare Complex auditorium. He will also be available on a conference call with reporters. Watch LIVE COVERAGE on PhiladelphiaEagles.com tonight, as well as on Monday, April 5th.
“Donovan McNabb was more than a franchise quarterback for this team,” said Eagles Chairman Jeffrey Lurie. “He truly embodied all of the attributes of a great quarterback and of a great person. He has been an excellent representative of this organization and the entire National Football League both on and off the field. I look forward to honoring him as of the greatest Eagles of all-time and hopefully see in enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton one day. I wish Donovan and his beautiful family great health and joy for many, many years to come.”
“This was a very tough decision,” said head coach Andy Reid. “Donovan McNabb represented everything a football player could be during his 11 seasons in Philadelphia. He carried this organization to new heights and set a high standard of excellence both on and off the field. We thank him for everything he did for this football team and for this city.”
“Donovan is the ultimate professional,” said Eagles president Joe Banner. “He has an incredible work ethic and has been an integral part of our success. Over the years, Donovan has always carried himself with a great deal of dignity. He’s an excellent role model for young men and women from across the region. In my mind, he’ll always be remembered as one of the greatest Eagles of all time.”
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman: “Donovan is clearly one of the all-time greatest Eagles and he represented this team and this city with class over the last 11 years. Certainly a deal of his magnitude took a lot of time and effort to accomplish and it was certainly a tough decision to make in the end. We wish he and his family all the best.”
With the acquisition of Washington’s 2nd round draft pick this year, the Eagles now have 11 total selections in this year’s draft: 1st round (24th overall), 2nd round (37, from Washington), 2nd round (55), 3rd round (70, from Seattle), 3rd round (87), 4th round (105, from Cleveland), 4th round (121), 5th round (137, from Cleveland), 6th round (200, from Indianapolis), 7th round (243, compensatory pick), and 7th round (244, compensatory pick).’
McNabb, the Eagles first round draft pick in 1999, earned six Pro Bowl selections as an Eagle and finished as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, pass attempts, and completions.
